Training & Education
A complete range of in-house training and education programmes are available from PTA accredited organisations.

These include:

  • Half day introductory seminars
  • 1, 2 and 3 day workshops - Introductions to Therapeutic Play
  • A series of 2 and 3 day modular programmes leading to a Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills
  • A series of 2 and 3 day modular programmes leading to a Diploma in Therapeutic Play Skills

Normally a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 16 participants is required.  Costs range from £40 to £120 per person per day depending upon numbers, location and content.

Management Consultancy Services
If you are responsible for strategic decisions in childrens emotional, behaviour or mental health areas PTA offers a range of management consultancy services:
  • Situation appraisals of existing services to identify strengths and weaknesses

  • Evaluation of alternative service delivery models to optimise the quality of care with the use of human and financial resources

  • Integration of childrens psychology based services with others (eg educational objectives, physical health services, family services etc)

  • Identifying and dealing with priorities

  • Development of strategic and operational plans

  • Plans to handle social exclusion and unauthorised absences problems

  • Preparation of financial plans and budgets

  • Quality management and clinical governance

Human Resource Services
Human resource planning of psychology based services for children using PTAs Profession Structure Model (PSM), incorporating a competency framework:
  • Establishment planning

  • Preparation of job descriptions*

  • Recruitment & selection services

  • Remuneration policy

  • Performance appraisal

  • Identification of training needs

  • Learning management

  • Planning and provision of special training events

Project Management
